Victoria Povall

Hi everyone, my name is Victoria Povall and I am Delta Phi Epsilon’s Vice president of Recruitment. I know recruitment can be a very overwhelming and a stressful process, but I can assure you, that you won’t regret it! Of course it is nerve-racking experience and can be out of many people’s comfort zones, but push yourself to be the best version of yourself. Flashback to when I went out a few years ago, I was so nervous but in the end, it was the best decision I have made! A sorority is a true sisterhood with sixty plus girls that will always be there for you. Joining Greek Life will give you the opportunity to express yourself and the opportunity to give back to local communities, and organizations. Each sorority supports their own philanthropy in such amazing ways and memories are made to last a lifetime! Always be your true, authentic self and take that risk of going out for recruitment because it will be so worth it, I promise!

About Recruitment

The recruitment process is one of the highlights of my college career! It’s a fun way to get to meet all of the Panhellenic community and make friends in all of the chapters here at Stockton. You start with getting put in a group of other girls going through the same process along with recruitment councilors who are there to help guide you and answer all of your questions. Recruitment takes place over the course of two weekends. The first round you will get to meet all six sororities on campus and really get a feel of the organization’s you vibe with. The second day you can go back to up to four organizations and get to learn about all of their philtropies and find some that you really connect with. The final round is preference night where you can go back to up to two organizations and really have an in depth talk with the girls in those sororities. In this final round you really find where you feel at home. At the end of each round you get to rank the sororities you visited. Its a long process but worth every second and your recruitment councilors are with you every step of the way!

Advice for Potential New Members

"Be true to yourself and do not be afraid to put yourself out there. You are going to find the best home for yourself and the best way to do that is by being your authentic self"

" I would tell someone going out for recruitment to go into it with an open mind and to not be disappointed if things don’t go exactly how you thought they would in your mind because things always turn out how they should! And remember that we’re all a little nervous going through this process but have fun!"

Getting a new perspective from a girl who sees the world differently than you is so beneficial to expanding your worldview!"

“At first I went out for recruitment feeling very out of my comfort zone and nervous. Unfortunately, recruitment didn’t go as I thought it would and I questioned the whole process. Then, I got an email from one of the organizations I had interest in and now I know so many faces across campus as well as, get to feel involved while still being a commuter student. As hard as it can be, keep an open mind and focus on your own journey because it is so different than every other person’s you may come across!”
